The cadets of 1181 (Syston) Squadron ATC are pleased to present their Christmas Video 2016
Cadets get to design Red 1’s flying helmet for 75th anniversary celebrations.
AIR Cadets are being asked to design the flying helmet worn by the Team Leader of the Red Arrows, to mark their organisation’s 75th anniversary. The winning sketch will be applied to a real helmet, worn by Red 1 and flown in a display by the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team. The competition is being held to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the RAF Air Cadets in 2016. Once brought to life, the successful artwork design will be seen on a helmet worn by Squadron Leader David Montenegro, Red 1 and Team Leader of the Red Arrows. It is hoped he will wear the helmet for a display at the Royal International Air Tattoo, being staged in July.
1181 (Syston) Squadron is pleased to present our Christmas video for 2015
This year the cadets chose to parody the Band Aid 30 - Do they Know it's Christmas video from 2014. Great fun was had allocating the parts, rehearsing and ultimately shooting the video at the Squadron. Plt. Off. Gaunt, the OiC of 1181 Squadron, said "It's great to see such enthusiasm from the Cadets - definitely some budding actors amongst them".
For every squadron there is an associated Civilian Committee.
The squadron Civilian Committee members hold monthly meeting, a minimum of 5 members make up a civilian committee, a Chairperson, Treasurer and Secretary have been elected.
We welcome support from members of the public, parents, school managers, local councillors, ex-service personnel, the RAFA and The Royal British Legion.
The ATC is a charitable organisation. The Royal Air Force provides funds for a few of the key activities such as flying and glider pilot training, but the great range of other activities offered by the ATC have to be financed from other sources. This is were the civilian committee plays their part to seek and manage the necessary finance by way of fundraising.
Fund raising events include: Cadets packing bags for money at the local supermarket, 'Spare change' collections at local events, Marshalling duties at public events, Raffles, Tombola, Wine or water stall to list a few.
For future Fund raising dates please see the main calendar
Currently we are fundraising for Archery equipment e.g. Backstop netting, Target bosses and stands.
